My executive team

Nottingham City Council’s executive is made up of 10 portfolio holders, elected Councillors who each have responsibility for a certain area.

My team and I are working hard to deliver the Council’s top five priorities to:

  • Build or buy 1000 Council or social homes for rent.
  • Create 15,000 new jobs for Nottingham people.
  •  Build a new Central Library, making it the best children’s library in the UK.
  • Cut crime, and reduce anti-social behaviour by a quarter.
  • Ensure Nottingham is the cleanest big city in England and keep neighbourhoods as clean as the city centre

There are currently 10 Portfolio Holders who form my executive team. For the first time in Nottingham City Council’s history, the executive is predominantly female. . I am looking forward to working alongside our talented and diverse group to build a safer, cleaner city where all residents have opportunities to prosper and reach their full potential.

Cllr David Mellen, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration Safety and Communications
Within this Portfolio, I overview of all regeneration activity across the City
City Centre, major regeneration projects, Local Economic Partnership and European Funding and also overview the Council’s Section 17 responsibilities. Public and Consumer Protection and Community Safety.

Cllr Sally Longford, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Energy, Enviroment and Democratic Services
Cllr Longford is responsible for climate change, carbon reduction and Nature Conservation Strategy. She also looks after Enviro-energy, Robin Hood Energy, emergency planning as well as elections and voter registration.

Cllr Cheryl Barnard, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People
Cllr Barnard has responsibility for all children’s services including children’s safeguarding, children in care, children’s disability services and the youth and play teams.

Cllr Sam Webster, Portfolio Holder for Finance, Growth and the City Centre
Cllr Webster looks at the overall budget for the Council, managing our economic development and oversees City Centre retail management, licensing and inward investment.

Cllr Linda Woodings, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Planning and Heritage
Cllr Woodings oversees all planning policy and development management, as well as taking responsibility for the performance of Nottingham City Homes and Housing Associations.

Cllr Neghat Khan, Portfolio Holder for Early Years, Education and Employment
Cllr Khan’s responsibilities include all aspects of schooling including education improvement, admissions and attendance. The role also includes employibility in schools, apprenticeships and Nottingham Futures, Advice and Skills.

Cllr Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and IT
Cllr Trimble’s portfolio includes parks, playgrounds, leisure centres, meseums, libraries and venues such as the Ice Arena, Playhouse and Nottingham Castle. He also looks after the council’s IT services.

Cllr Adele Williams, Portfolio Holder for Adult Care and Local Transport
Cllr Williams holds the responsibility for corporate strategies for older people and support for vulnerable adults. She also looks after public transport, cycling, traffic management and Parking and highways design and maintenance.

Cllr Rebecca Langton, Portfolio Holder for Communities
Cllr Langton oversees neighbourhood management, cleansing and street scene as well as community engagement, One Nottingham and community cohesion.
